Job summary

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic paediatric team of Consultants and highly experienced Speciality Doctors to provide a full range of community paediatric services, including developmental, behavioural and education medicine. 

Key responsibilities

  • The appointee will participate in the full range of community paediatric services including developmental assessment, school health and education medicine including assessment of children with special needs for statementing purposes.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary management of children with complex needs.
  • Develop an Interest in a specific area of Community Paediatrics e.g. sleep, ASD, ADHD, DCD as per the needs of the department.
  • Participate in the medical input to multidisciplinary management of child protection.
  • The appointee will work closely with paediatric colleagues, nursing colleagues, allied health professionals and general practitioners. He/she will have considerable contact with colleagues providing education and social services within the community.
  • Participate in clinical audit and professional audit as agreed.
  • No out-of-hours or unsociable hours responsibilities and no on-call requirements.
  • The post holder will participate in teaching activities within the unit, either postgraduates, medical students or other professionals as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional and Trust training programmes as agreed with Lead Paediatrician/Clinical Director.
  • Participate in health promotion/disease prevention programmes.
