Job summary
To provide a full range of contraceptive and community reproductive health services to clients attending Sexual and Reproductive Health Care clinics in the Western Health and Social Care Trust. To participate in clinical governance, clinical audit and CPD in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care. To follow guidelines and protocols in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care. The post/posts are fully flexible and negotiable.
Key Duties / Reposnsibilities
Staff day-to-day Sexual and Reproductive Health clinics for WHSCT as required.
Give up to date specialist advice to patients who self-refer to the clinics.
Give specialist advice and counselling on sexual health and contraceptive issues to young people including those who are underage whilst working within the regional guidelines.
To answer telephone queries from clients.
In specialist clinics, insert and remove IUDs and IUSs in self-referred patients and those referred by GP or other doctor. Insert IUSs for menorrhagia in patients referred from the other doctors.
Insert and remove sub dermal implants and refer impalpable implants to Regional Deep Implant Clinic
Perform cervical smear tests on those patients who either request or need one and arrange follow up or referral as required.
Give initial advice about STIs, perform initial STI screening tests treat and refer to GUM as required.
Provide pre-conceptual counselling to patients as required.
Provide initial counselling and carry out initial investigations in couples experiencing infertility.
Counsel and provide practical advice to those seeking help pre and post abortion.
Give initial menopausal counselling and forward referral as necessary.
Provide peri menopausal advice and appropriate contraceptive advice.
