Job summary
The Special Educational Needs (SEN) Co-ordinator will work with the range of Trust staffing groups that provide advice to the Education Authority (EA) for children with possible SENs as part of the Statutory Assessment process. The post-holder will implement, develop and maintain recommendations and actions developed from the regional Notification, Referral and Statutory Assessment (NRSA) group including standardising of current processes and models across each of the Trust area. The remit will include collation of relevant data from Health and Social Care staff involved in this process.
Main responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership for Trust staff in relation to SEN including contributing to various regional forums within this area.
- Work collaboratively and in partnership with key stakeholders to support the delivery practice related to the SEN process.
- Keep abreast of legislative contexts, professional guidance and practice related to SEN and provide advice in the development of any Trust guidance and protocols in line with the regional direction.
- Leading and co-ordinate the evaluation of the SEN delivery model across the Trust including monitoring of timeframes.
- Scope various practice documents and provide advice and support on how this relates to the management of SEN in line with strategic developments.
- Provide operational and professional leadership in monitoring progress on the relevant SEN regional implementation plans.
- Work in partnership with other stakeholders to determine future practice needs of staff in supporting SEN including PPI initiatives.
