Role purpose
To support the training needs of and assess vocational qualification learners in Health & Social Care.
Key responsibilities
- To provide advice/support to managers and learners on assessment and training needs. All work must reflect the National Occupational Standards for Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers (TAQA).
- To judge the evidence of a learner’s performance, knowledge and understanding against the Standards to decide whether the learner has met the requirements of the qualification.
- To act as a link between the learner and the Assessment Centre.
Main duties
- Advise managers and learners on the selection of QCF units appropriate to the workplace and the needs of the learner.
- Induct learner, carryout initial assessment and development of a personal development plan with learners.
- Design, deliver and evaluate underpinning knowledge classes for learners.
- Carryout the assessment of learners in accordance with Ofqual/CCEA and Awarding Body requirements.
- Complete and record all aspects of the assessment process in line with TAQA standards and show an auditable trail of the assessment process in the learners contact diary within their e-portfolio. Agreements must indicate the support systems in place to ensure that assessment is ongoing.
- Keep the IQA/Vocational Training Manager informed regularly of any changes/developments with learner’s progress.
- Attend and participate in care standardisation meetings and activities.
- Undertake second-line assessment when supporting learners undertaking TAQA Qualifications.
- Carry out internal quality assurance processes in line with TAQA standards for verification practice.
- Attend and participate in QAB / Internal Quality Assurer meetings to ensure quality standards are maintained in line with Awarding Body Requirements.
