Job summary
The Lead Allied Health Professional (AHP), Governance, Safety and Research will have a leadership role within the division and directorate contributing to and maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, quality improvement and governance.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the AHP Professional Heads of service to develop a whole Trust approach to AHP Governance, Safety and Research.
The post holder will have a key role in developing and maintaining an open and learning culture across the service and will ensure that patient safety is deeply embedded in its objectives. They will take the lead on ensuring robust adverse incident reporting and investigation.
The post holder will also provide managerial leadership for delegated staff within the AHP Service to support the delivery of high-quality clinical services for patients .
The post holder will ensure that staff are fully engaged in the process of change management and in particular, that clinicians are fully involved at the forefront of service improvement projects.
The post holder will ensure that a culture of inquiry and research is developed and that best evidence and research outcomes are applied to practice.
Work in close collaboration with the Directorate’s Business Intelligence Officer for the smooth operational effectiveness of the directorate and work closely with other Governance, Safety and Research leads within Trust and external bodies e.g. Universities and Research facilities.
Main responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Take responsibility for developing and coordinating Directorate reports and responses to statutory and other external bodies, such as RQIA and Internal Audit.
- Engage with multi-professional teams to influence staff engagement in risk management and governance processes.
- Encourage and promote the improvement of safety for patients, staff and visitors across the Service by leading the promotion of a positive Health and Safety culture.
- The post holder will empower and engage all staff and ensure involvement at all levels to identify new ways of working and alternative models of service delivery using Quality Improvement methodology.
