Job summary
Responsible for Social Care and further education in the Centre and Satellite Units with the prime objective of enabling each member to make the best of his/her ability so that he/she can increase his/her level of independence and obtain a degree of achievement.
To work as a member of a team under the supervision of Senior Day Care Worker/ Day Care Manager to plan, assess, implement and evaluate the day care programmes for service users development.
To work/liaise with all relevant voluntary and private groups to develop opportunities including employment for service users within their local community and to use other resources to enable people to lead satisfactory lives in the community.
The work may necessitate staff being based either in the Centre, satellite Units or any other venue to meet the specialised nature of the service they are providing.
Main responsibilities

To enable members to develop self-confidence through life skills, work skills, education and recreational activities appropriate to their needs.

To assist in a programme of activities for service users in the Centre, Satellite Units, Community Leisure Centre or other appropriate venues. To drive Non PSV type vehicles as and when required.

To provide support to community, voluntary or private organisations in conjunction with service users programmes.

To complete written reports on service users complying with day care standards and to maintain appropriate records using the Trust’s Computerised Information System where necessary.

To establish areas of work on both individual and group basis so as to ensure effective utilisation of resources i.e. centre, home, community, voluntary, private and other statutory agencies. This may necessitate working outside of the centre during the day and evening.

To liaise with all other appropriate persons involved in the care of the service user.

To participate in meeting the physical and personal needs of service users.

To attend regular reviews (PCPs) of service users and provide the necessary written reports.

To participate in a formal programme of supervision.

Assist service users with personal care i.e. toileting and ensure that centre standards of privacy, dignity etc. are adhered to. Staff must act professionally at all times.

Organise and participate in recreational trips, sport, leisure programme and sensory activities.

Plan and arrange individual care programmes for the benefit of service users.

Monitor and evaluate care programmes.

Assist with supervision and feeding programmes of service users during lunch and lunch-time recreation.

Administer Medication/Drugs/First Aid.

Maintain and be responsible for the day to day running of your own Unit.

Participate in conferences, courses, meetings and training, which may include up to 5 days MAPA training, organised/arranged by the Trust.

To promote and actively participate in the clinical and social care governance agenda e.g. audits, risk management, service improvement projects, questionnaires, etc.
