Job summary
The post holder will be based in inpatient Learning Disability Services, which provides acute care to an adult with learning disabilities with behavioural or mental health care needs who require acute inpatient care and treatment. The post holder is required to assist in the provision of safe, effective patient centered compassionate care. The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes of care. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and will be required to supervise and demonstrate leadership to registered staff and nursing assistants.
Main responsibilities
The post holder will participate & contribute to:
· The assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
· Professional decision making.
· Effective team working; maintaining staff relationships and morale amongst staff.
· Maintaining a quality service.
· Relevant clinical skills and functions commensurate with the role requirements, following appropriate training and assessment
· Promote and protect the rights of patients who are not able to protect themselves from harm or abuse by reporting all safeguarding concerns following trust safeguarding procedures.
· Carry out evidence-based practice and agreed care pathways.
· Implement positive behaviour support approaches
· Carry out prescribed care in line with MHO NI (1986) and mental capacity act (2016) if appropriate
· Develop a culture of high quality, continually improving and compassionate care by representing and reinforcing the values of high-quality care, continual improvement and compassion.
· Must be willing to work across both days and night duties, including weekends and public holiday shifts.
· Maintenance of health and safety on the ward.
