Department: Planned Care Services

Contract and Hours: Temporary, Full Time (40hpw 10PAs) from May 2025 to August 2026 initially

A waiting list may be established for the next 12 months should another similar post arise.

 

Purpose of role

To share in the collective responsibility for the provision of medical care to patients within the Western Trust area, to provide leadership within his/her own specialty team and to contribute to the development of excellence in Clinical practice through research, audit and undergraduate and postgraduate training.               

 

General Duties

  • General care of the children in the Children’s ward, Neonatal Unit, Postnatal Ward, Labour Ward and Day Treatment Area.
  • Attending at Out-Patient Clinics.
  • Discharge Letters.
  • Should take part in the General and departmental Postgraduate teaching. May be required to assist in the teaching of nurses and medical students.
  • So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties the postholder must undertake to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
  • The postholder must undertake, exceptionally to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
  • The postholder must undertake, exceptionally to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
