Applications are invited for the above permanent full-time position. A panel will be formed from which other permanent or temporary posts may be filled.

Role Purpose

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work as a member of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with MDT colleagues providing services to children from 0-18 years and families who are accessing the Children's Disability Network Team.

 

 Key Responsibilities

The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of an occupational therapy service to include assessment diagnostics and intervention and ongoing service delivery to children with complex needs and their families.

The Senior Occupational Therapist will take a lead role in key areas of service development, reporting to the CDNT manager.  Professional clinical supervision will be provided.  

The ability to manage and prioritize a busy caseload, and work in an inter-disciplinary way using a family centered practice approach are also keys requirements of the role.

It is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and be a positive influence on shaping services within the CDNT.

Role Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU – candidates must state CORU registration number on application.
  • Practitioners must maintain annual CORU registration and provide evidence of registration with CORU.
  • All candidates must have three years full time (or equivalent) post-qualification clinical experience.
  • Have excellent communication and team-working skills.
  • Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a self-directed manner

Desirable Criteria

 

  • Experience of the inter-disciplinary team working.
  • Experience of working in the area of disabilities and or with children
  • Experience in education and training and supervising others.
  • Be committed to the delivery of quality, family-centred, community-based services.
  • Have knowledge of relevant National Health and Social Care Frameworks for children's disability services.
  •  Experience in supporting 24-hour postural management needs.
  • Experience in the implementation of sensory integration approaches.
  • Knowledge of Community Healthcare Organisation Governance of Children’s Disability Network Service.
  • Full Driver’s licence
