Job summary

To share in the collective responsibility to provide specialist stroke medicine services, contribute to the daily management of stroke patients on the ward develop the TIA service, contribute to the development of excellence in clinical practice through audit and participation in clinical and social care governance. Ensure good communication with patients and relatives and participate in the investigation of any complaints within the Directorate, complete clinical incident report forms as per Trust Policy

Main responsibilities

  • Contribute to the TIA service by assessing clinic patients under supervision of senior doctors
  • Participate in the hospital’s acute stroke/thrombolysis team
  • Take stroke referrals from ED and other medical wards
  • Provide advice and assessment to patients referred to the stroke team from other departments
  • Contribute to the management of hyperacute, acute and stroke rehabilitation patients.
  • Promote and develop multidisciplinary team work within the specialty.
  • Maintain specialist knowledge in stroke medicine extending his/her professional and management knowledge and skills.
  • Fulfil the relevant commitment to continuing professional development and continuing medical education.
  • Participate in clinical audit.
