Job summary
The Head of Service will be responsible for the operational management of those services and staff which fall within the remit of Primary Care Liaison and Specialist Services. In particular he/she will have direct managerial responsibility for Primary Care Liaison Service (including Talking Therapy Hub), Adult Psychological Therapy Services, Eating Disorder Service, Personality Disorder Service, Perinatal Mental Health Service, Conditions Management Programme, the Regional Trauma Network and relevant service developments.
The postholder will be expected to provide leadership and clear direction for all aspects of the services and service improvement initiatives. He/she will promote a culture which emphasises respect for services users and carers. He/she will ensure that all staff work together on a multi-disciplinary basis provide high quality mental health services in-keeping with the standards of the Regional Mental Health Care Pathway ‘You in Mind’ (HSCB 2014) . The postholder will support the implementation of the recommendations within the DoH Regional Mental Health Strategy and any other relevant directives.
The post holder will deliver access, governance and financial targets within their area of responsibility and the management of cost improvement programmes to support the achievement of balanced budget.
Key objectives
- Contribute to the development of the strategic policies for services within their remit to contribute to the annual business plan.
- Ensure that services within his/her sphere of control are delivered as specified within the Trust’s Corporate Plan.
- Develop strong links with other Adult Mental Health Services. He/she will be expected to develop close links throughout Trust’s area both in terms of involving service users, carers, General Practitioners and Community, Voluntary and Independent Sector providers.
- The post holder will ensure that staff are fully engaged in the process of service improvement and in particular, that the multi-disciplinary team are fully involved and at the forefront of development of service improvement projects.
