Summary
The Residential homes aim to meet and exceed the standards of care set down in the Residential Care Homes Minimum Standards and comply with the Residential Care Homes Regulations.
The Care Assistant will liaise closely and take direction from the senior care staff and home manager to endure residents' physical; social and emotional needs are met.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting residents with all aspects of personal care ie toileting, bathing, washing, showering, dressing, shaving etc.
- Observing and reporting any changes in residents’ well-being.
- Assisting residents with care of their belongings, personal items and bedrooms.
- Participating in infection control duties to ensure safe practices.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all matters relating to residents.
- Dealing with complaints and safeguarding issues.
- Accident/incident reporting.
- Respecting residents’ dignity and privacy. Have an understanding of residents’ rights to make their own choices.
- Plan appropriate individual activities to meet residents’ needs.
- Maintain legible and accurate records in respect of residents’ care.
- Participate in formulating care plans, risk assessments and reviews.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with health and safety policy and statutory regulations.
- Foster good working relationships with resident relatives, visiting professionals
- Participate in ongoing training appropriate to the role and contribute to staff meetings and supervision/appraisals.
- Flexibility regarding working hours/days; weekends/bank holidays, day/night/evening shifts.
