Contract and Hours: Temporary, Full Time (40hpw)

 

Job Summary

The appointee will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers to contribute in the efficient running of the ENT service and will share with colleagues the medical and surgical management of patients attending the ENT unit. Applicants will need to demonstrate commitment to excellent teamwork with clinical colleagues, willingness to utilise and develop clinical care pathways in the overall management of patients and assist in improving these pathways over time and have a very positive attitude to dealing with patients.

This post should be of particular interest to candidates with innovative ideas and the ability to help further develop the service.

 

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • The main focus of this post will be the clinical assessment and management of ENT patients within ENT clinics and also the management of inpatients as required.
  • The post holder will be a member of Directorate of Acute Services. The post holder has access to its secretarial service and provision of a shared computer.
  • The post holder will train and participate in performing ENT surgical procedures.
  • Undertake to perform additional duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams.
  • The post holder will participate in multi-professional audit, Quality Improvement and educational activities within the Unit and the Directorate.
  • The post-holder will be expected to undertake administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients and to contribute to the smooth running of the department.
  • The post holder will participate in the teaching and training of medical students and service training for hospital staff.
  • He/she will be expected to undertake continuing medical education (CME/CPD).
  • The post holder may be required to deputise as far as is practicable for absent colleagues of the same or other grades not lower than the Specialty Doctor.
  • Any changes to the working arrangements will be by means of discussion and agreement (which should not unreasonably be withheld) with the post holder.
