About Us

Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation, funded by the HSE under Section 38. We support people with intellectual disabilities through residential care, day services, independent living, job advocacy, and vocational training.

Purpose of the Post

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) will be appointed on a candidate basis for a term of up to three years and progressing to a permanent contract once criteria for registration as an Advanced Practice Nurse are met. Under the direction of the Health Care Provider’s Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group, the post holder will develop the job description and supporting documentation required to enable the individual nurse to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Criteria for Registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, as set out in the Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI, 2017).

 

Experience and Qualifications

Eligible applicants will be those who, on the closing date for the competition, meet all of the following requirements:

1.       Professional Registration

o   Be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann), or be entitled to be so registered; and

o   Be registered in the Intellectual Disability Division of the NMBI Register.

OR

o   In recognition of services that span several patient/client groups and/or divisions of the register, provide evidence of validated competencies relevant to the specific context of practice. 

2.       Clinical Experience

o   Have a broad base of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice. 

3.       Educational Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:

o   Be eligible to undertake a Master’s Degree (or higher) in Nursing, or a Master’s Degree that is relevant or applicable to the advanced field of practice. The Master’s programme must be at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (Quality and Qualifications Ireland), or equivalent. Educational preparation must include at least three modular components relevant to the area of advanced practice, in addition to a supervised clinical practicum;

OR

o   Be currently undertaking a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Advanced Practice Pathway);

OR

o   Be eligible to register for and undertake additional Level 9 National Framework of Qualifications (QQI) modules specific to a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Advanced Practice Pathway) within an agreed timeframe. Educational preparation must include at least three modular components relevant to the area of advanced practice, in addition to a supervised clinical practicum;

OR

o   Possess a Master’s Degree (or higher) in Nursing, or a Master’s Degree that is relevant or applicable to the advanced field of practice. The programme must be at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (QQI), or equivalent, and include at least three modular components relevant to the area of advanced practice, in addition to a supervised clinical practicum.

Salary: In line with the Department of Health consolidated pay scales, the current salary scale is Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Candidate (Intellectual Disability) €70,725– €79,872 per annum.
